Quality Control
Moulds are inspected for hardness, damages, formation of as cast letters inspection and friability.
Liquid Metal is checked for chemical composition by taking bath sample before tapping. If any variation is observed, the same is adjusted to meet the specification by adding the Ferro alloys. Once again final sample is drawn from the furnace to ensure the chemical composition as per the standard. Liquid metal temperature is ensured by checking with immersion pyrometer and followed as per the control plan. The bath sample report and the tapping temperature are recorded.
The poured castings are inspected for mismatch, sand inclusion, formation of as cast marking details, cracks and other foundry defects before fettling. The defective castings are quarantined and rejected after analysis. The rejections are recorded.
After fettling, the castings are inspected for undercut, over/under fettling etc., and are upgraded before heat treatment. After heat treatment, the castings are inspected for microstructure and hardness as per QAP.
